Keyhole Cancer Campaign

Keyhole cancer campaign

Our ‘Keyhole Cancer campaign’, completed in early 2008, enabled the provision of a £400,000 state-of-the-art laparoscopic (keyhole surgery) theatre suite. This enables surgeons to perform the latest and most complex keyhole procedures for patients undergoing cancer and general surgery. At the heart of the new theatres are some of the most advanced camera systems in Europe, which deliver extremely high quality images. Around 1,500-2,000 patients benefit each year. Many of these patients would have previously had to have ‘open’ surgery’ which would have meant longer hospital stays and recovery times and greater post operative pain and scarring.

"We would like to send our heartfelt thanks to all the supporters of the Stars Appeal on behalf of all of our patients to whom this equipment has, and will continue to, make a significant difference."
