Stroke Care fund - Farley Stroke Unit

Helping care for local people affected by strokes

Every year Salisbury District Hospital treats around 350 local people who have had a stroke. Most people affected are over 65, but anyone can have a stroke, including children and even babies. Stroke is the third most common cause of death in the UK. It is also a leading cause of severe adult disability.

The Stroke Care Fund helps improve care for these people by funding additional equipment, education, information and rehabilitation over and above that funded by the NHS both in hospital and within the community. This enables the doctors, nurses and therapists to deliver faster, more effective treatment and makes a real difference to the lives of people who have had a stroke, no matter what degree of seriousness.
