Olivia Colman becomes Patron of the Stars Appeal

January 29th 2021

We are delighted to announce that Olivia Colman has become an Honorary Patron of the Stars Appeal.

Olivia Colman

Olivia visited us here at the Stars Appeal at Salisbury District Hospital in January 2020, when she toured projects funded by the charity and met some of the patients, families and hospital staff that we help.

Olivia said “I am deeply honoured to have been asked to be honorary patron of the Stars Appeal.  My visit there filled me with joy and the positivity and enthusiasm from patients and staff were such a beautiful thing to behold. Thank you so much for having me, and I hope to come back and visit again when next I am allowed.”

Lord Pembroke, President of the Stars Appeal said: “We are delighted that Olivia has chosen to become a Patron of the Stars Appeal. I had the pleasure of accompanying her during her visit to the charity and it was immediately clear that she shares our passion for helping people in hospital and their loved ones and supporting the NHS staff that care for them. We are very much looking forward to welcoming her back as soon as we are able and to her continued support in enabling the Stars Appeal to do even more to help people in hospital.”

Olivia is a multi-award winning British actress having won Best Leading Actress at the 2019 Academy awards for her leading role as Queen Anne in The Favourite. Olivia can currently be seen in The Crown which earned her Best Actress in a TV Series at the 2020 Golden Globes for her performance as Queen Elizabeth II in Season 3.
