NHS Charities Together Covid-19 Appeal helps fund Stars Appeal projects supporting both staff and patients

Staff and patients at Salisbury District Hospital are benefitting from generous grants from the national Covid-19 Appeal run by NHS Charities Together. NHS Charities Together is the umbrella organisation of all NHS charities, which shot to prominence when Captain Sir Tom Moore raised more than £32million for it.

Here at the Stars Appeal we recently received a further grant of £50,000. The money is being used to fund a number of important Stars Appeal projects benefitting both patients and staff. These include: providing training staff to become accredited Mental Health First Aiders © which will equip staff with the skills they need to support their own and others’ wellbeing during Covid-19 and beyond; free Stars Appeal Wi-Fi keeping staff and patients connected with loved ones; a dedicated staff counsellor and mental health nurse helping staff cope with everything they are going through and specialist simulation training to ensure staff are well prepared for the many challenging situations they are facing.

To date, the Stars Appeal has received £113,000 of funding from NHS Charities Together to help with our projects related to Covid-19. We are hugely grateful to NHS Charities Together and the many thousands of people who have supported their Covid-19 Appeal. Their generosity continues to enable us to provide support to both staff and patients throughout the Coronavirus pandemic. You can find out more about this work here
