A generous gift left in the Will of a big-hearted supporter from Milton-on-Stour has helped fund a major development in the Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.
Mrs Janet Hunt (nee Brady), who sadly passed away in 2012, left her home near Gillingham to the Hospital. Mrs Hunt made the request that the proceeds from the sale of her house be used to benefit patients on the Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit, known as Radnor Ward, where she had been treated as a patient. The money has been used to provide state-of-the-art equipment and an enhanced environment within a major redevelopment of the Ward, through which capacity will increase from eight beds to 12.
On Friday 8th May, Mrs Hunt’s sister Shirley Pearce, niece Mandy Ralphs and a group of her friends visited the Ward to unveil a plaque commemorating Mrs Hunt’s generosity. They met staff, patients and relatives and learnt how Mrs Hunt’s gift is benefitting thousands of local people needing intensive and high dependency care.
